Y'alright?

It’s all about the ambition!

After making my big sale the other day (see the post below this is you haven’t already), I’d reached a big goal for me, and was pretty pleased with myself.
But what I was both surprised and pleased with was when the next day I found myself sitting at my laptop thinking “So what’ll I do next?”
A while back the thought of making 1k off a single site sale was insane for me. I was pleased selling shitty websites for $20.
The reason I was so pleased with myself when I found myself planning my next move just the day after my biggest ever sale was that it demonstrated the ambition and drive I now know I have. The biggest men in business are never satisfied. We constantly see the filthy rich guys spreading their business into new markets, offering new services, making more millions. Do they need to? No. So why do they? From my point of view, the thrill of succeeding is the reason. That feeling you get every time you make a sale of a product or website, or even an increase on the RSS feed. The self satisfaction.

For example, take Graham Langdon. He created the MillionDollarWiki, and made himself around 100k off the site. The site was a clever idea, but he got way more success than he probably should have. It was a quick phasa a few people got caught up in, the site had no longevity. He’s now selling the site (current bid was $10,500 last time I checked, and I’d be surprised if he got much more for it, the site’s dead) to fund his new project. Already he’s started a new project and is promoting it. This new site is Entrecard, and it’s actually a great idea that has a lot more potential than MDW.

It’s that ambition and motivation that all successful business men have. The drive to always make more, sell more, have more. Does Richard Branson really need to have Virgin working in so many different fields? Of course not, but he still does.

You’ve gotta keep your eye out for new opportunites. Graham Langdon probably saw the success of things like the Blogrush widget, and was clever enough to come up with a unique take on it. You’ve got to admire him for not just settling for the money he made of MDW. Some may call this greedy, but I reckon most of those are the kind of people doing the lotto every week. Trying to win too much money just for picking a few numbers.

As for what I’ll do next, well, I’m still asking myself that
