Y'alright?

Digital Point forums are going down the drain

That’s right, I’m sorry to say that Digital Point forums are really turning to shit. Lately the place is just becoming a haven for cheap bastards with poorly spoken english to gather and “post”. The place is simply full of people selling and reselling the same shit, most of which they probably don’t even have resale rights to (read about my experiences on this in this link).

There just seems to be so little quality material around DP. A friend of mine, William Montanaro, showed me a great example of just how shitty DP has gotten. William’s a great writer, and wrote a 75 page Traffic Superbook ebook that was retailing at $47, which was actually a great price for the wealth of information contained in there. He offered this to the punters on Digital Point as the discount price of $20, and got just one sale on there I think. Now website traffic is the thing everyone should want to improve on, because you need traffic before you can do anything with a site. Get traffic and then start working on profit.

But of course, a long term investment isn’t what DP users want. William then wrote another ebook targetting the DP market, and made himself a decent bit of cash. The ebook this time? A few pages about a little method he found that earns a bit of quick cash if you constantly put work into. Now it was a good book and all, but the fact that this sold more copies than his other traffic ebook showed the interests of Digital Point users.

I’m getting more and more pissed off at people on there speaking awful broken english and even trying to scam people. The place has gotten so full of idiots. Ever wondered why you rarely see the major players in internet marketing on there?

Unfortunately for me, it’s so active, even if a lot of those active users are irritating, so it’s a handy place to see webmaster news and make money here and there. Be careful in looking for work on there though, you’ll be on slave labour rates if you plan on writing or designing for money.

Even worse, the moderators on there lately have really lost the plot. Infractions and bans are being handed out for the stupidest things, if they’re breaking a new rule on a technicality or something. Too often lately I’m seeing failure to use common sense on the part of mods.

Recently a very popular poster on there, Samantha, was banned, which was pretty disgraceful since she was always catching scammers and alerting the mods, and generally doing good work for the forum. See her post about the whole thing here. Guys I strongly recommend checking out her site, you’ll be shocked that the mods banned who must have been the hottest girl on the entire forum. Then have a look at the thread where people asked why she’d been banned, which is here. Cleverly she changed around some images she had linked to during her time on DP, and wrote messages to the mods via those, for example, the images below.

You gotta love that bitchiness.

I myself have gotten infractions for silly things in my time, I even posted about one a while back, have a look here for more info in that.

Overall I’m logging onto DP more out of habit than anything else lately. I sincerely hope I find a new place to spend my time and conduct business, but it’ll be hard to find somewhere quite as active.

It also seems like the ways of making money are quite limited. Everyone just seems to do the same things - Proxies, Flipping Sites, Writing an ebook (then flipping the ebook’s site), and of course, blogs. Not that there’s anything wrong with these methods, but I would love to find a unique idea, that could work long term and bring regular passive income rather than just something to make a quick buck.

I am sure Shawn over at DP would appreciate you hot linking his logo. At least have the courtesy to not steal his bandwidth and host it yourself in the process of bashing the site…

very interesting.
i’m adding in RSS Reader

#4 Posted by Internet Junkie (13.01.08 at 17:29 )

And me thinking of joining the forum! Thank God I didn’t do it, don’t want to be a cheap b@$&@&d with bad English!

#5 Posted by Gavin (18.01.08 at 17:27 )

You are right about the cheap bastards, people asking for review copies really is shite.

As for Sammy, she broke the rules (more than once) and deserved the ban. As for the hottest girl on DP? Nah no way man.

SBD is right about hot linking that image. You may want to fix. ;-)

#6 Posted by Mark (18.01.08 at 17:39 )

Hotlinking issue sorted. Thanks for the comment Gavin, had a look at your website, very proud to have ya on here!

I used to always hang out there, but eventually the sheer amont of people selling the same cheap websites, rehsashing previous material etc just drove me away. Now i only use the site occassionally rather the long amount of hours spent trawling the forums there! The overall quality of the posts there has simply gone downhill. IMO the only reason people still go there is the volume of webmasters there, which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but at some point quality will become an issue in the future.

Agreed, DP is going to hell. A group of people [on DP] just set up a new forum which they want to heavily ‘quality control’ and only let in members who speak Fluent English, etc… I put the link in my ‘website’ box, so click my name if you want to check it out - it’s doing nicely so far but we could use more members… Boycott DP!

#9 Posted by Shane (02.04.08 at 03:19 )

Nice comment, fully agree on DP.

Hello my friends :)
;)

My husband and I both got banned, saying we had multiple accounts. Sick of how DP gives silly infractions, doesnt take the time to investigate a situation and is quick to banned people…no matter how many posts or threads you may have contributed to. Its ridiculous. If anyone, including the writer of this article who did a BRILLANT job by the way, would like to become partners in a new forum…send us a message thedudl3ys@aol.com … We are determinded to have everyone a safe place to conduct business with real mods whom are polite.

There seem to be alot of people just posting to get their count up and spread their sig links. Every time I have a half useful exchange with someone it gets filled with useless 1 sentence replies that just restate a part of something that has already been said or say useless things like ‘interesting i will look into this’

#13 Posted by nemo (26.06.08 at 14:58 )

couldnt agree more! I got an infraction and ban for reporting a scammer!

#14 Posted by Kevin (11.07.08 at 18:59 )

I have been noticing things like old time members being banned. Some may be legitimate, but some are strange at best. For example the recent banning of Shoemoney? I even received an infraction point for replying to a thread where the OP asked us to reply with our information for a directory submission. Even the OP was given and infraction. Rules are fine and dandy, but when they are being abused and everything is being interpreted as breaking the rules then what is the sense of remaining a member of such a community. I have not been banned there myself, but I am sure if you post enough anymore then your chances increase tremendously. I will simply post there once in a while if even that. I simply have little tolerance for moderation stupidity from a forum. While yes they need to keep the stupid one liners out who are simply doing nothing more then keeping their sig links in view, but use some common sense when you are looking at who you are giving infraction and bans to. See whether the person is a contributing member or simply one that is nothing more then a leach.

#15 Posted by IMFreakz (13.07.08 at 11:14 )

I don’t know what is all about. But for now, there’s 2 forum I like. DP and V7N.

#16 Posted by Digital point hater (14.07.08 at 12:40 )

Soon digitalpoint will go down,
because moderators over there dont have any other work, other thatn banning.

For a member who has gained so much reputation and so much itrader points by doing hard work, if they ban him, it really sucks.

This is what happening in dp forum, it is becoming a place for piracy, illegal things.

SHwan u suck, because u really dont know how to behave with your members, he atleast wont give reply to the private message that has been sent to him

The moderators over there are some pyshco people.

Pyscho people will kill normal people because of their behavior, but at dp, these pyscho moderators will ban members and give infractions unnecessarily.

I hate dp, soon i will see a new forum which will beat if dp doesn’t change its behavior.

Thank you admin, for giving me a chance to express hatred to this forum.

#17 Posted by Mark (14.07.08 at 20:06 )

Thanks everyone for all the comments, it’s good to know that others feel the same way about DP.

#18 Posted by darvenginzks (02.08.08 at 12:05 )

I’ve recently joined and wanted to introduce myself :)

#19 Posted by dw (16.08.08 at 20:18 )

I just banned for multiple account which I never do :(
I post complaint, but I doubt they will reply that.

#20 Posted by DP are for scammers (26.08.08 at 16:39 )

Digitalpoint is a disgrace. The only reason the site is still popular is because newbies don’t know any better and scammers continue to praise it.

The moderators are indeed luntaics. They are abnormal people who can careless about scammers but focus their attention on hard working members. They are ban trigger happy. Its like they want to eliminate the good to give chances to the bad. Seriously, they claim they try to do their job but are they?

They should read some of these comments and if they really do care should take the criticism and learn from it. But they don’t. They’ll just ignore it all and let their shady business continue.

FU DP. FU.

#21 Posted by faith janine (16.09.08 at 14:25 )

I also hate DP. me and my sister joined DP together and it is really so sad because I got banned for multiple accounts and my sister who have around 40 plus i traders and around 600 plus posts were banned as well. So bad because DP doesnt care about highly reputed members they just want to throw loyal members at bay becaue they are famous already.

I just go to DP to sell stuff and services but I am planning to join other forums because of this

#22 Posted by Lever (04.12.08 at 16:14 )

I’ve been at DP for nearly 5 years and it has changed SO much in that time. But you’re right, it’s been swamped with, shall we say, a lower quality of member for a couple of years now.
I know English may not be the first language of many (the majority now?) of DP members, but the command of the English language is so utterly atrocious at times.

And yet, whilst infractions and bans get handed out like candy for the stupidest of things, we don’t see a clampdown on the badly-titled posts (Someone Help Me/Did you Know?), the count-racking 3-word one-liners (Yes, I agree) the same old questions over and over again (What is the best CMS?) or the blatant idiocy and utter rudeness of people (I want Be Guru/Show Me SEO secrets/Tell me How Make lots Money) let alone the failure to show even a glimmer of simple gratitude.

It’s a real shame because DP has lost what made it so good; a tight community of people who were always knowledgeable and helpful. Some of them are still there… just. Jewels in the rough ;)

#23 Posted by Will.Spencer (09.02.09 at 14:19 )

Leven, a lot of us early DP members who formed that “tight community of people who were always knowledgeable and helpful” have given up on DP and started a new forum at NetBuilders.org.

We learned a lot about what to do, and what NOT to do, from our experience on DP.

NetBuilders is a far better environment than DP ever was. You should come take a look!

#24 Posted by wholesale Sunglasses (10.02.09 at 10:42 )

Today DP is down for nearly 24 hours now. I couldn’t find a blog that talks about its demise. Another webmasters forum site talked about DP’s downward trend. The site must clean up its backyard.

#25 Posted by together51@aol.com (24.02.09 at 23:49 )

Thanks for the tip about netbuilders. I’ve given up on DP and its flea market/carny atmosphere.

#26 Posted by Lamper (02.03.09 at 22:17 )

DP has better take its user more seriously. Just considered to join DP - maybe I should join netbuilders instead …

#27 Posted by Jwp (12.03.09 at 18:42 )

I agree dp really sucks now i found this new place that is totally dedicated to making money online and right now they are free and ther is a cool blog comment tracker tool that you can use for backlinks its called profitexplorers.com
i managed to get like 300 backlinks with this tool they have in like 3 hours

#28 Posted by free action online games (23.03.09 at 12:07 )

I love DP even though all those silly people have terrible english. I just wish it was more stable and wasn’t going down or having errors a few times a day. I don’t know if it’s vbulletion and over a million topics or just some crap servers. It gets old dealing with all the errors and blank pages.

#29 Posted by Andy (23.03.09 at 14:57 )

Digital Point is getting worse!
It always has database issues at the moment and is always offline.
Digital Point has a smaller twin sister as in http://www.onlinemoneymakingforums.com
I have moved there!

#30 Posted by mkddfj (05.05.09 at 20:19 )

Digital Point forums are going down the drain
- I do think so.

#31 Posted by DP Member (06.07.09 at 08:03 )

I agree! I am fed up with the lazy members asking the same questions over and over again. Damn! Is Google that difficult to use? I noticed a large Indian population too, which cannot speak or write basic English and they are some of the dumbest members on the forum. And of course, the scammers. There are tons to be found on DP.

#32 Posted by tt (24.07.09 at 05:14 )

#35 Posted by Trick (27.10.09 at 12:27 )

DP can be very annoying-scammers,broken English, bans, infractions, server problems, but its still lively enough.Warriors is good but for some reason I always end up on DP.

#36 Posted by MrFlicks (22.04.10 at 02:49 )

Yep I agee with original post and others Dogital Point is crap due to spammers scammers and mods like sawz and we should all build better places like I am trying to do.
