A Whole Month

Without alcohol. A whole freakin’ month.

They said it couldn’t be done. They said I’d be a fool to try.

“It can’t be done, Mark”, they said.

“You’d be a fool to try, Mark”, they said.

Well where are they now?

I’ve survived the whole of January without drinking at all. For a young college student, this is no mean feat. Also, let us pour shame and guilt on my friend who was supposed to be doing this challenge with me, but had a failure of epic proportions, giving in just after the halfway mark. This is for you :

In fairness, it was easier than I expected, but I did go out a lot less than usual. If I had to go out as often as I do when I am drinking, it would have been far more difficult.

Overall, glad I managed it.

A whole month! You should be sainted or at least given a knighthood. How much money did you save? I’m thinking of giving up drinking all together…but want to it be worth while, good health is not enough!

Yeah, I meant to do that too just to save money more than anything else. But it’s just so tempting to join in when others around you are drinking. If I was forced to, I could stop easily, ya know?

Aaron : Not sure how much money I saved really, but I was much better off financially than usual, that’s for sure!

Sean : Yeah, I felt the same way about knowing I could quit if I was forced to. Was good to try the giving up thing, a test of will power. It’s interesting to see how mates react to the news that you’re not drinking.
