What Did Santa Bring?

Simple post. What presents did I receive for Christmas?

After all, everybody knows Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Santa.

The main present I got was an acoustic guitar. Now completing my collection of guitars : Electric bass, acoustic bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar.

Here’s a picture of the new addition :

And now to the books and DVDs.

Russell Brand boxset, with two live shows, and series one of his Ponderland show.

Also, Russell’s new book, “Articles Of Faith” which is a collection of all of his football articles from The Guardian last season.

Next up is a classic book, which I started reading in school, but we never finished. Catcher In The Rye by JD Salinger.

Another highly rated book, Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.

Finally, a book about one of my favourite bands, Babyshambles. Has interviews with the band and some great photos in there, seems good so far.

There were other stocking filler type of presents, but I feel it’d be wholely unnecessary to take photos of a pack of socks or gift vouchers. Or money.

What did everyone else get then?

Happy freakin’ Christmas

It’s Christmas eve already. Really flew in. Thankfully I didn’t have all that much shopping to do, but obviously, being a man, I left it very late to get it done. I went shopping the other day and bought one present, and about five things for myself.

It’s all sorted anyway, and I’m relaxing for the night after indulging over the past few evenings.

So to celebrate the festive season, I’ve taken this picture of me and my family, just for you Walsho.net readers! Hope you all like it.

I’m the one at the back right. That’s right, the old guy with the moustache.

Merry Christmas all.

What’s that fucking noise?

The other night, roughly 4am.  I’m still up obviously, from all the cocaine I was snorting off a hooker’s ass while simultaneously signing the breasts of female admirers.

So yeah, I was in watching stuff on Youtube all night.

Had been using my wireless headphones (seriously, get these for yourself or someone else for Christmas, I can’t imagine what I did without them) too, so when I finally took them off, I wasn’t too surprised to hear a slight buzzing. Presumed it was the same kinda ringing in your ears you get after you leave a club or gig.

But after a while it was really annoying me, and I became more certain that something was making this noise (being the clever little detective that I am, I went into a different room, and lo and behold, the noise was no more). So something in my room was making this noise.

I checked everything. Unplugged everything. The noise remained.

Then you start thinking stupid stuff like, “Maybe this noise has always been there, and I just never noticed it”. It sounded like it was coming from up above, so I checked all my shelves and everything. Still, I had no source of this mysterious noise. Perhaps the voice of God.

Fuck it.

I’ll go to bed, maybe I’ll get used to the noise and it won’t stop me falling asleep.

Yeah. Fuck it.

Lift the covers off, get into bed. Lean over, switch off the light.

The noise stops immediately.

The light. The little elusive bastard ; the light.

I’m an idiot.

A satisfying video

Watching this video just gives you such a sense of satisfaction and justice.

Some guy was with his girlfriend for four years. He buys an engagement ring but a few days before he’s gonna propose, he gets some upsetting news. He calls his local radio station, and they cook up a devilish little scheme for revenge.

Watch the following video, and enjoy :

Never have I heard such stunned silence.

My attempts to study

That title is a little misleading, for I haven’t even made an attempt to study.

My Christmas exams for college start on Monday, and I haven’t done any studying yet. This weekend was supposed to be a cramming weekend. I foolishly went out last night, and that left me a little worse for wear this morning.

“Sure, that’s grand. I’ll feel fine after breakfast. Then I’ll hit the books.”

I told myself several variations of this throughout the day. It is now almost midnight and I’m beginning to think that I won’t actually get any studying done today. Tomorrow I’m going to the library to actually do something.

No excuses.

I’ve four exams - French, Maths, Economics and Organisation and Management.

I’m also hoping to do a big college-related post once these exams are over. I haven’t talked about it much on here.

Also, this blog will be getting a new theme. Not a custom one, not only could I not afford that at the moment, but usually they have a shitload of errors and it’s headwrecking getting some idiot designer/coder to sort it out, so I end up having a go myself and getting all frustrated.

When I look at the current theme, it disgusts me a little. Definitely time for a change. I’ll spend a lot of time searching through the thousands of free themes out there, but if anyone sees any nice ones in the meantime, feel free to let me know. What sort of colour scheme to go for? How many columns? This’ll be fun!

Goldfish Magazine

Just a quick post.

Goldfish magazine is the satirical magazine of the Comedy Society in Trinity College. The Christmas issue has just been published, so any Trinity students reading, go check it out (you should find copies all over the place really, and it’s free) and have a read of the article by yours truly on page 16.

I was given a lot of freedom, told to write about anything, as long as it’s more funny than offensive. I played it fairly safe, writing a piece about all the weird and (not so) wonderful things you see on the bus/train. Pretty much every student in college will have a lot of experience with that sort of thing.

Much of my article was stuff I’d already talked about on here, but I’ll try scan in the article anyway, for the non-Trinity-going folk to have a look at.
